Interview with Jennifer Sanders - Executive Director, North Texas Innovation Alliance & Brandon Branham - Chief Technology Officer and Assistant City Manager, City of Peachtree Corners (Curiosity Lab at Peachtree Corners).

Jennifer Sanders is a leader and thinker in smart cities and regions. She is, currently, the Executive Director of the North Texas Innovation Alliance, a consortium of cross-sector organisations including public, private, civic and academic entities, that works to build and implement a regional smart, connected and resilient strategy for North Texas.

Brandon Branham is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Assistant City Manager of Peachtree Corners, one of the United States’ first 5G smart cities powered by real-world connected infrastructure. He is the leader of smart city and IoT programmes under the flagship of the City of Peachtree Corners.

1. Could you both please start by telling us a little bit about your backgrounds?
2. Could you share with us about your earlier career path and your motivations or inspiration? What made you decide to jump deeper in the area of smart cities?
3. Peachtree Corners had announced the partnership with the North Texas Innovation Alliance (NTXIA) since October this year to join hands in supporting the expansion of smart cities across the country through public-private partnerships. Could you share more about the vision, mission and how you think this partnership will be able to bring the citizens closer to innovation and new technologies which are invented to make their lives easier?
4. According to the UN-Habitat, World Cities Report, 70% of the world population will be living in cities by 2030. At the end of the day, all inventions aim to create a better quality of life so the way we approach innovation is also very important. What do you think about regional approach and could you share more about the importance of collaboration between cities, Jennifer?
5. For Brandon, what are the most significant features or services in Peachtree Corner that you want to develop the same to other smart cities in the country in near future?
6. Do you plan to create a set of living standards for citizens in smart cities? What are the biggest challenges that you are facing at the moment?
7. Does sustainability act as a key factor in your plan of development and what will you do to create a smarter but more sustainable city?
